he nominal sub-species (Gypaetus barbatus barbatus) is found in the north of Africa, whilst in the east and south of Africa, the subspecies (Gypaetus barbatus meridionalis) is found, mainly in South Africa and Lesotho (Mountain range of Drackensberg), Ethiopia and some isolated gold-African enclaves of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
