  CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
his involves carrying out different types of actions related to the preparation of technical reports about the execution of different infrastructure works, electrical cable laying, wind parks, hunting management in critical areas, communications and free time within the area of influence of the Bearded Vulture Recovery Plans. Allegations are also prepared about any project, which shows negative or incompatible aspects with respect to the conservation both of the bearded vulture and of the mountain ecosystems where it lives.

It also includes the development of technical work related to monitoring the species, such as the control and monitoring of reproductive units, marking and monitoring specimens and keeping a watch of the nesting sectors, among others.

The majority of the activities described are carried out with different public administrations, groups and companies and are aimed at applying corrective measures with respect to any actions that might affect the Bearded vulture population or their natural habitat.

  ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS-RAISING
he conservation of the species must entail an effort to communicate and disseminate their biological aspects and their conservation problems, as well as to indicate solutions to possible conflicts. The lack of knowledge of their characteristics and especially of their problems is one of the main factors that has influenced and still influences their disappearance.

Most of FCQ’s efforts are aimed at this type of work using different means, informing people and raising their awareness about the need to conserve biodiversity in order to achieve changes in attitude, understand environmental problems and analyse possible solutions.

In this line, annual debate forums are held, as well as communication campaigns and specific environmental education programmes aimed both at schools and adults in collaboration with public and private institutions.

  RESEARCH
ith own means or in collaboration with public administrations, research centres and scientific institutions, a series of studies are being conducted to obtain a knowledge of the bearded vulture in aspects such as biology, demography of the species, current state of the habitats where the species disappeared (habitat studies), biogeographic aspects, technical seminars, genetic and toxicological studies.

This type of activities includes the demographic monitoring of the Pyrenean population by monitoring radio-marked bearded vultures, which, to date, has helped discover a lot more about the mortality of the species and the juvenile dispersion. It has also enabled the demographic and feasibility analysis of the most important population of the Western Palaearctic to be carried out.
