| Justification
of the Project |
 |
he
depopulation of the rural
world during the second
half of the 20th century
has caused, apart from the
obvious socio-economic problems,
profound changes in the
uses of the soil, which
have contributed to the
detriment and degradation
of the natural ecosystems,
to the impoverishment of
the countryside and of our
traditional culture. |
 |
| Initiatives
for rural development
through the conservation
of nature of the Pyrenees |
 |
|
|
 |
| The
abandonment of the stockbreeding
resources and above all of the
traditional farming systems, is
leading to a decrease in the number
of heads, the decline of transhumance,
the standardisation of the uses
of the soil and the disappearance
of beneficial practices for some
threatened species such as the
bearded vulture. |
 |
| Aware
of this problem, with this
project, the FCQ
and the Town Council of
Pueyo de Araguas started
up an environmental management,
education and conservation
experiment, whose aim is
to demonstrate, in a practical
way, that the conservation
of biological and landscape
wealth is compatible with
the development of agricultural,
stockbreeding and environmentally-friendly
tourist activities. |
