| Project
Justification |
 |
his
project arises as a result
of the approval of Decree
184/1994, of 31 August 1994,
by the Government of Aragon
(B.O.A. 9-9-94), whereby
a protection system is established
for the Bearded Vulture
and the Recovery Plan, managed
by the Department of the
Environment of the Government
of Aragon, is approved.
The FCQ. works with the
latter in the framework
of collaboration agreements
to carry out different projects
included within the Plan.
This document
derives from the need to
comply with article 31 of
Law 4/1989, of 27 March,
on the Conservation of Natural
Spaces and of Wild Flora
and Fauna, which stipulates
that the cataloguing of
a species included in the
“endangered”
category will require the
preparation of a recovery
plan. |
 |
Application scope
of the Recovery Plan
in Aragon |
|
|
 |
| The
main objective of this Plan is
to increase the number of specimens
of this species, until a sufficient
and stable population unit is
achieved in the current distribution
area, in order to favour the colonisation
of territories considered as a
potential habitat for the species. |
 |
| Its
application scope covers
the current distribution
area of the Bearded Vulture
in Aragon, which includes
the Pyrenean valleys and
the Outer Mountain ranges
of Huesca and Zaragoza,
as well as the territories
where specimens in dispersion
to the species have recently
been observed, such as the
Special Bird Protection
Zones of «Sierra de
Moncayo - Los Fayos - Sierra
de Armas» and «Guadalope
- Maestrazgo». |
